10 Money Saving Tips from The Detail Shop 1. Use a lower octane fuel. Check your owner's manual and use the lowest octane gasoline possible. 2. Closely monitor tire pressures. Under-inflated tires can reduce average vehicle mileage from 4 to 10%. Use your vehicle manufacturer's recommendations. And, check your tire pressure when the tires are cold. 3. Replace worn tires. And, don't use off-road rubber when it is not needed. 4. Keep your vehicle tuned. 5. Lighten up that oil. Use the lightest grade recommended by your vehicle's manufacturer. 6. Check and replace dirty air filters. 7. If you reduce the amount of time you run your AC, mileage will improve. But rolling down the windows, especially on the highway, reduces your vehicle's aerodynamic efficiency. 8. Drive smarter with a light touch on the gas pedal. 9. Drive smoother with less on-the-gas, on-the-brake action. 10. Don't be a pack horse. More weight in the trunk=more fuel consumption.
